Autoranging
4-digit millisecond stopclock counting to 9999s with a 1/1000th second
resolution on the lowest range. Two push switches control start/stop and
reset/latch functions. The latch facility allows the clock to continue
counting whilst the display is held, this allows split times to be
taken. Remote start/stop is possible by completing or breaking a circuit
using the two 4mm sockets mounted on the sides. The mode of operation of
the external start/stop is configured at switch on by holding down the
reset/latch switch. This allows connection to our Photo Timing Gate or
similar devices for accurate time measurements in dynamics experiments.
The liquid crystal display features 13mm high digits and has a wide
field of view. Housed in a robust ABS plastic case with anti-slip feet
fitted to the base. Supplied with instructions and battery.
Appendix It has been brought to our attention that there is a potential problem when using this instrument with the Griffin or STE "g by freefall apparatus". The switching outputs generated by the apparatus are not compatible with the digital millisecond stopclock. To ensure correct operation of the experiment it is necessary to use an interface circuit between the apparatus and the stopclock or to use a double pole momentary switch (dependant on which 'g' by freefall apparatus is being used). The interface circuit can be easily constructed from a few basic electronic components. A copy of the circuit diagram and details of how to connect the circuit to the stopclock and apparatus are shown in a drawing available here. Alternatively, descriptions and diagrams of how to set up the experiment are contained in a set of experimental notes compiled by us. |
